AlNeelain University (Prevously Cairo University - Khartoum Branch) was established in 1974 as the nucleus of the Faculty of Science in the future. In 1991, the current headquarters of the Faculty of Science and Technology, which included biology, chemistry, physics and geology as well as mathematics department at that time were established under the name of Faculty of Science. In 1993, University of Cairo - Khartoum Branch was changed to University of AlNeelain after being owned by the Sudanese government. In July 1997, the College was upgraded to become a faculty of basic and applied sciences. It is now the largest college of science and technology in Sudan and qualifies for bachelor's degrees - honors in ten semesters. In addition to the technical diploma in physics and the technical diploma in chemistry (three years). As for postgraduate studies, there is master degree programms by courses, master and doctoral studies by research in various disciplines. The Faculty of Science and Technology aims to establish a distinguished scientific base for basic and applied sciences through distinguished academic plans and programs that meet the requirements of academic standards capable of preparing a competitive graduate in the labor market and following the development in the field of scientific and technological research.

Providing high quality educational programs and carrying out scientific researches that are up to date and distinct and capable of providing the society with the knowledge and training frameworks and preparing graduates with high professional competence for the public and private sectors in the various fields of identity. And contribute to the enlightenment of the community (culture of the field of the college) through cultural and social activities and the development of awareness to preserve the environment and values.
In addition to the goals of the university as a larger vessel, the college aims to:
