By the end of the course students should be able to:

1. Recognize deviation from normal in terms of mental health taking into account the social contexts.
2. Understand the epidemiology, etiology, clinical presentation and management of common psychiatric illnesses
3. Recognize the medico legal aspects of psychiatry
4. Communicate with psychiatric patients and their families
5. Examine and elicit signs and symptoms of psychiatric patients
6. Work in collaboration with other disciplines and with psycologists and social workers
