The Workshop "GIS Applications in Climate Change" was held at Al-Neelain University, 19–22 September 2016, and was jointly organized by the Deanship of Scientific Research and Sudanese Women in Science Organization (SWSO) in collaboration with Alexandria Research Center for Adaptation to Climate Change (ARCA).

The overall objective of the workshop was to raise awareness and support of researchers as well as key stakeholders in the Sudan in the field of vulnerability and adaptation to Climate change.

Participants were engaged in classroom lectures, computer simulation exercises that offer a set of methods and techniques on how to employ GIS in quantifying and analyzing climate change impacts. The workshop provided a good opportunity for early/mid--‐career researchers to acquire and strengthen capacities in interdisciplinary approaches for climate change and GIS.

The workshop was attended by 20 participants, from different Sudanese Universities and research institutions with a wide range of backgrounds, including researchers from Geography, Agriculture and others departments. It was also a good opportunity for the participants to meet and exchange knowledge and experience with each other’s and with experts from Alexandria Research Center for Adaptation to Climate Change (ARCA).
